About
Production Infrastructure Owner • Distributed Systems Architect • Benchmark Author
18+ years owning production infrastructure and architecting secure, distributed cloud systems for enterprise scale.
Who I Am
I'm Vimal Maheedharan, a Software Architect based in Kochi, India. Over the past 18+ years I've worked with startups, product companies and global enterprises, taking end-to-end ownership of production infrastructure and architecting the distributed systems it runs on.
My core focus is production infrastructure ownership — on-call accountability, incident response, and the reliability discipline that keeps live systems trustworthy. Alongside that I design cloud and distributed systems architecture: fault-tolerant, event-driven platforms built to survive real-world failure at scale.
I build the automation that keeps those platforms healthy — infrastructure automation and containers spanning Kubernetes, Docker, and infrastructure-as-code pipelines — and I go deep into debugging live production systems when something breaks, using distributed tracing, structured logging, and root-cause analysis to find the real problem, not just the symptom.
More recently I've been authoring deterministic cloud benchmark tasks: reproducible, seedable infrastructure environments with verifiable ground truth, used to evaluate infrastructure reasoning under realistic, controlled failure conditions.
I've contributed to projects across automotive, retail, media, fintech and e-commerce using AWS, Azure, GCP, Kubernetes, Docker, Node.js, Java, Python, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Kafka and Keycloak.
Beyond architecture, I'm passionate about mentoring engineers and simplifying complexity.
